Things are looking pretty gloomy for Ugly Betty.
In a just-announced Thursday night scheduling tweak, ABC is benching Betty beginning March 26 and replacing it with episodes of Samantha Who? and the new Megan Mullally-Cheryl Hines comedy In the Motherhood. The network's release concludes by saying, "Ugly Betty will return to Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. following the run of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who?"
After crunching the numbers, that puts Betty's return (provided Sam Who/Motherhood don't tank) sometime around (gulp) June -- a.k.a. outside the regular season. Now, granted, Betty hasn't exactly been killing it in the ratings this season, but it's still one of ABC's signature shows. At least I thought it was.
Well now I will have to find something to do on Thursdays, maybe, socialize. *Gasp*
This update totally ruined my night, Trevor. Ugly Betty was such a great show on ABC, though it's first season was funnier (it's been turning into a quasi-drama now), it is still a really great show. It's different than the other comedies out there, like Samantha Who?.
I'll watch it in June, if it ever comes back. :(
Sorry to be a Betty-downer, J! At least Lost is back, which I love. But UB was totally gay in a way that almost no other TV show is. I enjoy Samantha Who?, but it's not the same.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! "Betty" is one of a kind. Interchangable plastic chicks and canned laughter coming in 22-minute chunks --I can't even work up the energy to yawn.
