So Friday night I piled into a car with a bunch of homos to make the trek to Detroit to see the one and only RuPaul. Paul, a first year in American Culture, was our DD for the evening (thanks Paul!). Also with us was Andre (a first year in Communications); Nat (a first year in Philosophy from England); and my hero Kane Race (a visting scholar here for the semester from Australia).
Paul and I had been planning this trip since we met back on labor day at "Gays Craze," which was a meet and greet event not particularly worth explaining. We arrive in Detroit, after getting turned around a bit on the way, to the club called Menjo's where Ru was performing. We didn't have tickets, and *of course* they were sold out! Fuck! We had to step over the velvet rope (the horror!) and shiver on the side of the road for a while. That is, until Kane and Nat stepped in and started making friends with the guys working the back door. They turned their foreigner charm on and somehow convinced one of them to sell us five tickets. We were in!
Much fun was had. RuPaul was alleged to come on at 11, so we all crammed in front of the stage a few minutes before then. Of course she didn't come on until after midnight! She worked it out, though I think after a few songs we all were pretty much done. But we had a blast! Totes fun. Can't wait for repeats.
Here's a grainy photo Kane took of me, Andre, Nat, and Paul outside the club! Loves it!

"Fresh meats" - cool.
